Best touring shoe or sandal for wide feet

I thought I would never know comfort below the ankles... until I met Crocs!!! I recommend you check out crocs.com to see all the styles available. Read the reviews to check out which styles really fit wide feet (Scutes and Skylar work great for my super-wides, plus the duets and clogs, and I even wear the Patricia and Cleos at work).

Some of the women's styles aren't made for me, and are specifically for more "normal" feet. But they have quite a few flip-flops that lots of ladies love, I just can't deal with the toe-thong thing.

If you have a store nearby that carries them, it's great to be able to try on without ordering them blind. Around here I have found them at Shoe Carnival and Dick's Sporting Goods. And don't even bother with the cheap knock-offs.

Good luck with the hunt!

I take a whole suitcase of shoes...just for ME! I change shoes at least twice a day. I used to hate Birkenstocks until I stopped wearing the Arizona and switched to the Mayari--straps don't cut into me and once I broke that foot bed in for my super sky-high arches, it gave me a break from wearing my custom orthotics in my brooks. For water rides, I love wearing my Merrell sandals that own neoprene so very quick drying and have fairly decent arch support. Because of the severity of my neuropathy, any type of flip-flop-style is out of the question for me...they collapse of my feet and I can't tell that it's happening. But my son loves his Reef flip flops. All the "men-folk" in our family would wear Keens for part of the day/water park days. Would love for all of us to try the Olukai's as I've heard really good things about them!

How do your Birks do in the rain? I've heard terrible things so I'm careful to keep them dry, but I love them and wear Arizonas to fly and Bostons as slippers. I have no concept why, but they don't receive stinky for me at all, but Keens ge

Hokas, Clarks, Sketchers, Brooks, Olukai. Find a good shoe store that will measure you feet. I would plan to try on different styles of all brands you are interested in. If you can buy the shoes with a return policy if you don't wear them outside. Wear them around the house until you find the best pair(s).

I wore Clarks for 30 years until they stopped making shoes I found comfy. When we were in England year ago, they were on every corner in London. I'm guessing they are no longer the same quality, but worth a look. I wish I had my favorite pair resoled but I threw them away...

DH love Sketchers slip ons. Me, not so much. I don't find enough support for my flat feet. He has high arches.

I've had mixed luck with Brooks.

DH loves Olukai, I know lots of people that find them comfy.

Our son (who is a dpt) bought me my first pair of Hokas in 2022 at DS. They are still my go to shoes, but sadly they don't make the style anymore. I wasted $150 on a pair that looked similar but doesn't feel the same.

Good luck!
