  • Sundering Stacks — Once every 0.5s, attacks inflict a stack of 4% rend, stacking up to 50 times.
  • Enchanted — Large damage amplify to heavy Bow shots.
  • Keenly Jagged — Applies a DoT after critically hitting. This will perform like Attunement, just like a Runeglass does, where you will deal another burst of ruin upon hitting the target. As such, you have the chance when you critically strike to deal Bow damage, Attunement spoil , Runeglass damage, and Keenly Jagged that will all add together. Afterwards, you will then contain two DoT's ticking on a target.
  • Attunement Perks — Consistent and free damage increase.
  • Vicious — Adds significantly more damage to critical strikes. Some Bow users like this instead of Enchanted.

Thrust Damage

CategoryPhysical Damage

Thrust Damage is one of the Damage Types in Dark Souls 2. It is one of the seven main Damage Types and belongs to the Physical Damage category. Damage Types are a major part of the calculation that determines how much damage is dealt in Combat and are affected by many factors including your equipment, spells and temporary buffs.

Dark Souls 2 Thrust Damage Guide

Thrust Damage is a type of Physical Damage dealt by both players and enemies alike. Thrust Damage is physical damage that differs from Strike Damage or Slash Damage types. Thrust Damage is often effective against most unarmored enemies and beetles.

All Physical Damage can be increased with any variant of the Ring of Blades, and all incoming Physical Damage can be reduced by any variant of the Ring of Steel Protection, armor, and blocking. The Old Leo Ring strengthens thrust weapon counter attacks.

Crossbow - Daggers

New World has gems you can place in your gear to change their effects. The cut pristine version of the gems can also be modified into runeglass versions of the gems. Below is a quick list of the New World gem effects and runeglass effects in both armor and weapons at each tier level.

Weapon Gem Effects

Placing a gem in your weapons in New World can have many different effects. They can increase the damage you deal, change some of the damage types your weapon can deal, or increase the aggro you can gain.

The effect of the gem is based on the tier. There are 4 different tiers II-V. They consist of cut flawed, cut, cut brilliant, and cut pristine. Elemental gems always convert 50% of your damage to that element regardless of tier.

However, conversion gems (gems that convert your damage type) also scale ALL of the weapon’s damage to intelligence or focus if those attributes are higher than the base weapon’s attributes. The conversion gem values are as follows:

  • Tier 2 = 50% Conversion to Element at 45% scaling off of INT / 35% scaling off of FOC
  • Tier 3 = 50% Conversion to Element at 55% scaling off of INT / 45% scaling off of FOC
  • Tier 4 = 50%

Shield Issues and Weapons with "Thrust Damage"

Shields will be completely overhauled soon, but you do take some stamina damage if you're hit on the shield while not defending. This is intended behaviour.

This makes a lot of sense and I'm totally ok with this idea. I was not certain if this was intended or not but thanks for clearing this up!

That's slashing damage, not thrusting. Stacking even just heavy cloth is quite effective against slashing. Thrust is always piercing damage and only applies on thrusts. Either way armour is locational, so you can wear all the chest protection in the world but if you get hit on your expoosed face you'll still take serious damage.

With the daggers/swords I'm still not entirely sold that this is working properly. I do understand the locational damage protection you receive from armour and clothing. I have taken the tiniest slashes to the chest multiple times while wearing:

gambeson (superior): 2.5 dots slash protection
    leather jacket (fine): 1 dot
    chain shirt (superior): 4 dots
    leather vest: 2 dots

vs daggers 3 dots of slashing damage but also sporting a nice 2 to 3.5 t
