Lightbringer was democracy! How every Game of Thrones prophecy came true- with a twist!

The Long Night isn’t what you think it is. The Nighttime King was a red herring, Lightbringer isn’t a sword, and The Stallion Who Mounts The World wasn’t murdered. Most people’s reaction to the shocking Game of Thrones finale, and S8E3, was that every single prophecy didn’t come true. The Darkness King was defeatedContinue reading “Lightbringer was democracy! Hey guys it’s LmL and I’m back to squeeze in Weirwood Compendium 10 before the end of the month! Real life has kept me away from you for the last two weeks, but I got up early on West Coast time to make you guys some myth head breakfast. Thanks to all of our patreon supporters and to everyone who likes and shares the videos, and I’d like to welcome those of you who have subscribed to the channel recently. This is Weirwood Compendium 10, and we’re picking up where we left on in WC9, so make sure you watch that video and probably the “Weirwood Magic and Lore” video from a couple weeks back if you haven’t done the whole Weirwood Compendium or forget what it was about. That said, it’s time for our trippiest episode yet, perhaps, although there was that 3 hour Rhymes and Riddles of Patchface the Fool halloween livestream form a couple years ago…

By now I have gotten to know a few of you listeners and patreon supporters, and I know you all are a clever bunch.  When you hear me talking about a horse which allows the rider to travel the universe, you might be thinking of the phrase “the Stallion Who Mounts the World.R

Hi! Here you can ask me anything you like.

Anonymous asks are currently off because of spam, unfortunately. If you feel too shy to ask a question without anon, please feel free to make a burner account. Also, if you'd like me to answer your question privately, just let me know. Either way, it might take me a few days (or weeks) to get back to you, but I will answer as soon as I can. (If you send me an instant message, I will probably reply faster, but not in depth.)

Note if you have an ASOIAF meta-question, please read my Frequently Asked Questions and search my blog / check my tags to see if I’ve already answered a similar question. Frequently repeated questions will probably not be answered again, sorry. If I'm feeling up to it (or if we've had a canon lore drop since I last responded), I might answer anyway, but if I would just repeat the exact same answer, I won't. But hey, I've got some good posts I think, please check 'em out!

However, one major reminder:

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT GAME OF THRONES.

If you have a question about Game of Thrones, please note I stopped watching the show mid-s5 and avoided it entirely afterwards. If you send such a question anyway,

The Stallion who Mounts the World: A Positive Prophecy

One of the most interesting prophecies that Daenerys is featured in is the prophecy of the Stallion who Mounts the World.

“As swift as the wind he rides, and behind him his khalasar covers the earth, men without number, with arakhs shining in their hands like blades of razor grass. Fierce as a storm this prince will be. His enemies will tremble before him, and their wives will weep tears of blood and rend their flesh in grief. The bells in his hair will sing his coming, and the milk men in the stone tents will fear his name.” The old woman trembled and looked at Dany almost as if she were afraid.
“The prince is riding, and he shall be the stallion who mounts the world.” (Daenerys V, AGOT)

I think many people have already covered why it is Dany that will fulfill this prophecy, not Rhaego, and that the Dosh Khaleen were misidentifying Rhaego as the center of the prophecy because of the Dothraki’s patriarchal tradition. This meta goes into good and concise detail about why it is Dany who fulfills each component of the prophecy as well.

Anyway, I believe that this prophecy

From Broodmare to The Stallion who Mounts The World

There are a lot of theories and metas on different prophecies in Game of Thrones. However, Dothraki prophecies seem to be side-lined even though it comes true (like YMBQ prophecy). Perhaps because it is Dothraki or perhaps because it would only be about a woman who everyone loves to hate- Dany.

Even in the show, Daenerys does go back to Vaes Dothrak, burn down the khals and gains her khalasar; however, it is not really explained why Dothraki follow her, except for the fact that she is The Unburnt. So, let’s look at some Dothraki myths and prophecies.

The first hint of Dothraki myths/prophecy we get is when Daenerys reaches Vaes Dothrak for the first time.

In this place, the crones of the dosh khaleen have decreed, all the Dothaki were one blood, one khalasar, one herd.

Though only the dosh khaleen stay permanently in Vaes Dothrak, there are many halls and free buildings. When asked why it is so, Ser Jorah tells her:

Vaes Dothrak is large enough to houseevery man of every khalasar, shouldall the khals return to Mother at once. The crones have prophesied thatone day that will come to pass
