World Anvil. Worth a subscription?
After development on RealmWorks was ended, I moved to World Anvil. It is a good and feature rich world building tool. It is pretty easy to get started with it, most of the difficulty has more to do with HOW you want to go about building your world, not so much how to use the tools. It allows you to export you content, so there is no lock-in, though it would still be a lot of work to take that exported content and put it in another system.
I ended up not continuing with my home brew world, but I keep my WA subscription for a long time because Frog God Games created a WA version of their Lost Lands setting. It was a great way to interact with setting content.
In short, if you are REALLY into world building and want a feature rich tool to do so that allows you to create interactive maps and cross-linked content pretty easily, with tools for sharing with your characters and tracking sessions, etc. I think WA is one of the best tools available. I'll also mention that if you use Foundry as your VTT, WA has a Foundry module to integrate your WA content into Foundry. I don't know if they have similar integrations with other VTTs.

The Magic of World Anvil
by Lisa Norman
In my last post, I talked about digital readers, a group of readers who like to interact with stories in new and creative ways. Many of these readers are young, but not all. People of all ages are discovering the fun of interacting with stories and the passion is contagious. Now I want to show you my favorite new toy for writers: writing software designed to build worlds that readers can become immersed in.
(Note: this is a simplified version of an interview I did with Janet Forbes that you can read on my website.)

- A vibrant community of writers, artists, and readers
If you are like me, your first question is, "How much does this cost?"
World Anvil has a free tier, which is good for testing how the platform works, but for a serious writer, this won't be enough. I recommend at leas

World Building Tools : World Anvil
This week isn’t going to be a post that’s actually about the world of Erylia. Instead, this post will be more for other world builders that don’t already know about this tool. As the Dungeon Master for Adventures in Erylia, I have come to absolutely love online tools to help make my work easier, more organized, and most importantly, digital. We have adopted Dungeon Fog for making battle maps, D&D Beyond for character management, and now I am testing out one for world building.
World Anvil Introduction
World Anvil is a newer resource that is making its way around the world building communities. It is currently in an open beta, and is funded as a subscription through their Patreon, but it is possible to use it for free as well. Right now, what is seen as the main downside of a free account is that your can’t have your world set as private. From what I have seen, you can still use the tool privately by leaving things as drafts, but you can’t share anything that way. Choosing to become one of their backers on Patreon allows you to set your world building efforts as private, but I am not sure what that does at this moment. There are some othe
