Cal ripken 10u world series
ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The Cal Ripken 10U Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament at Morse Community Park this week concludes with the championship game on Saturday, July 19.
Ten teams qualified to play in this year’s tournament: three teams from Central California, two teams from Northern California and Hawaii’ and a team each from Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. They will face each other throughout the week to win a spot to compete in the Cal Ripken 10U World Series Aug. 7 through Aug. 16 in Vincennes, Indiana.
Each of the 10 teams that qualified for the tournament were required to check in on Sunday, July 13. Following the check-in, every team participated in a pin exchange, dinner and a skills challenge all together.
The skills challenge included a relay race, an around the horn competition, a golden arm challenge and a homerun derby.

Dawniella Meier, Laguna Youth Baseball president, wanted the skills challenge to “allow players to compete and have fun together, and not necessarily compete against each other as teams.”

Crown Point Hosts Cal Ripken 10U World Series
Twenty-five baseball teams from around the world will tour to Indiana to showcase their skills and compete to be crowned the World Series champs. Hosted in Crown Point this is the second year for the Cal Ripken 10U Series.
Teams will be competing from Indiana, Alabama, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington. There are also four international teams participating from Australia, Czech Republic, Germany and Panama. “There isn’t always an international team, but each year the goal is to acquire one and this year we have four,” stated Joel Boomsma, VP of Crown Point Youth Baseball.
This year is the largest pool of teams at the 10U division with nearly 400 players. All the games will be played at the Crown Point Cal Ripken Fields, located at Jerry Ross Park, 341 W. North Street. The facility, which is located near downtown and just off the square, is one of the finest in the area, with three turf fields, six outdoor batting cages, and stadium-like seating on their primary “Majors” field.
